Turn On your computer screen.

After over a year debuting on the festival circuit, sci-fi short film Turn On has now been released online to a wider audience for free.

The roughly 14 minute long Turn On is a short film inspired by Blade Runner, following an android repairman (played by Ross Armstrong) who receives an emergency call to fix an apparently malfunctioning unit named Viva (Abigail Gregory). Written and Directed by Mat Owen, Turn On was filmed on a micro-budget of just £1,000 and the crew took to Kickstarter to raise funds after completion for a festival run.

That festival run has now come to an end, with the short being selected and shown around the world to great critical reception - winning three awards (Philip K. Dick Film Festival in New York, Screentest Film Festival in London and Carmarthen Bay Film Festival in Wales).

The majority of the £1,000 budget was spent on securing actor Ross Armstrong for the main role.

Filming took place in and around the North Wales area, with practical effects and smart workarounds being used to create a bigger sense of scale.
